2009 ETBCR Calendar "Contest"

images/store_calendar_2008_1.jpg

Contest Information:

For the past four years, ETBCR has made a calendar featuring photos of dogs that have been adopted through ETBCR. We believe producing the calendar is a fun and exciting project that is an excellent opportunity to feature the great dogs that have been helped by ETBCR and you, the wonderful families that have adopted a dog and saved a life.

The calendars from years past have been a great success. Printed and bound by ETBCR volunteers, the past two year's calendars were 13 full-color photographs on 67 lb. stock. We will be doing it again in 2009, and we would like your help.

This year's "contest" will accept entries until October 1, 2008. At that time a committee of ETBCR volunteers will choose the best 12 or 13 photos from the entries. These photos will be featured in the calendar. There are no prizes per se, only the honor of having your dog's photo in print. Please remember that we sincerely appreciate all of your entries and your efforts no matter which photos are selected.

If you have a photo that you are interested in submitting for the 2009 calendar, please make sure your entry meets the following requirements.

Photo Requirements*:

  1. The photo subject must be a dog or dogs that were adopted from ETBCR.
  2. The photo must be in an open, electronic image format (.jpg, .tif, .png, .gif, .bmp are all acceptable formats).
  3. The photo must be submitted by the copyright holder (normally the photographer), or ETBCR must receive a copyright release from the photographer (this is especially important for professional studio prints).
  4. The photo must be at least 1024x768 pixels in dimension. The higher resolution, the better. Unfortunately, we cannot use photos of lower quality. Lower resolution photos, no matter how great a shot, will simply print out too fuzzy at full-page size.
  5. Please submit all photos in their original, unedited form. Collages, special effects, text, and other elements you may add might conflict with the style and format of the final calendar.
  6. Photos with a 4:3 (i.e. height to width or width to height) aspect ratio are preferred (please do not crop).
  7. Photos of a dog displayed in past years' calendars are eligible, provided the photo is different.
  8. There is no limit to the number of photos you may submit, within reason.

Submission Procedure*:

  1. Make absolutely certain that your photo meets all of the requirements listed above.
  2. Please include with your photograph all of the following information:
    • The name of the dog in the photo (please include the dog's name when in rescue if different)
    • The names of any other animals or persons in the photograph
    • The name of the photographer
    • The name of the people or family that adopted the dog
    • Please include a short description of the events depicted in the photograph
    • Please indicate if you would permit ETBCR to use your photograph for other ETBCR purposes (e.g. on the website, in promotional material, items for sale, etc.)
  3. Email your photo, along with the above information, to calendar2009@bordercollierescuetn.com.
  4. By submitting your photograph as an entry in the calendar contest you give East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue permission to use the photograph for the 2009 ETBCR Calendar project.
  5. Entries will be accepted until October 1, 2008.

*Any entry that does not meet all of the above requirements and follow the above procedures will not be eligible for the Calendar Contest.
