Lizzie
Back to Adoptables
Meet Lizzie, a very sweet and petite blue merle Australian Shepherd/border collie mix. She is spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative and fully vaccinated.
Lizzie is about a year old, and was turned into a shelter with her sister by her owners for economy reasons. She was very shy and unsocialized initially, but she has blossomed in foster care and is a very loving girl once she gets to know you. She is initially shy with new people, but warms up quite quickly and becomes very bonded and dependent upon her person. Within a couple of days in foster care she would not leave my side.
She is a smart girl and has learned about leashes, crates and riding in cars. She is learning to be house trained and has also learned to sit and "load up" in her crate or pen for the night.
Lizzie would do well with an active family, or even an older single companion who would like to have a loving companion or walking buddy. She is not as high energy as a purebred border collie and appears to have little herding instinct. She takes no notice at all of my sheep. She does amazingly well in new situations and was calm and well behaved at our adoption day in a busy store.
This is a very appealing young dog who has many years to give to her new family.

Please note that as a policy ETBCR does not place puppies in families with children under 6 years of age, as border collies and border collie mixes can be very reactive to the movements of small children.
Prior to or upon adoption, all dogs in our rescue program are spayed/neutered (there are NO exceptions), fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, started on heartworm prevention, treated with flea and tick preventive, microchipped, and temperament tested. We also strive to crate and house train each dog before placement.
