Duke

Back to Adoptables

images/duke1_110.jpg

Duke is a beautiful male rough coat, mostly black and white, tri-colored Border collie mix. The vet estimates that he is about one year old. Duke is an energetic young dog and enjoys playing with his foster siblings. Duke is a very smart boy, and wants very much to please. He is also very motivated by “treats” resulting in his being very easy to train. He is quickly learning some basic commands and accepts correction well. Duke loves attention, getting and giving hugs, and wishes he could be a lap dog.

images/duke2_110.jpg

Duke is crate trained, and settles down quietly at night. He is a very happy, good natured fellow that enjoys running and playing. He has a wonderful, sweet personality, and will make a great “goes everywhere” companion and best friend. He loves riding in the car and enjoys going to work every day with his foster dad. Duke will do well in a home where he has another dog as a playmate or companion. But, he will also do well as an only dog if the family can provide him with lots of activity. Duke will not be happy in a home where he needs to be left alone for extended periods of more than two or three hours. We think Duke will be slightly larger than the average sized Border collie, and because he is still young and playful, might be too strong for very young children.

Duke has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on his vaccinations. He is on flea and heartworm prevention. Duke is a really great dog and will make a perfect addition to a loving, and active family.

Please note that as a policy ETBCR does not place puppies in families with children under 6 years of age, as border collies and border collie mixes can be very reactive to the movements of small children.

Prior to or upon adoption, all dogs in our rescue program are spayed/neutered (there are NO exceptions), fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, started on heartworm prevention, treated with flea and tick preventive, microchipped, and temperament tested. We also strive to crate and house train each dog before placement.
