Drake is a lovely, purebred, nine year old border collie. He is deep red and white in color. Drake is very friendly and will play fetch with anyone who will throw the ball or toy. He also loves to tug. Drake has lived a life of leisure with little demands being placed on him thus far so he would do well with a person or family who is interested in training him at least basic obedience. He is a smart boy who learns quickly.
After living his life of leisure for all this time Drake now finds himself in need of a new home to spend out his senior years. His original owner is disabled and can no longer care for herself or Drake and will soon be moving in with family. Unfortunately, the family does not want Drake to come along. Because of Drake's owner's immobility and inability to always get Drake outside when necessary he may need a refresher course in housetraining but the issue may resolve itself with neutering, folks that are able to attend to his needs and a change of house.
Drake has not been around small children, cats or other dogs during his life. He would probably be fine with older children. Drake is not a couch potato although, because of his owner's health, he's been forced into that role. Drake is still very active will need training to keep his mind busy and walks and fetch time to get him into shape and keep him physically fit. He will need a fenced yard.
Drake is very healthy and is up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative. He will be neutered on April 15th. Drake does have some sound/thunderstorm issues but is overall a very nice dog who still has a lot of active years left with a person or family that will work with his previously untapped potential.

Prior to or upon adoption, all dogs in our rescue program are spayed/neutered (there are NO exceptions), fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, started on heartworm prevention, treated with flea and tick preventive, microchipped, and temperament tested. We also strive to crate and house train each dog before placement.
