Chad
Back to Adoptables
This is Chad, a beautiful purebred rough coated red and white border collie. Chad is neutered, has been successfully treated for heartworms, and is fully vaccinated. He is approximately 3 years old.
Chad was neglected during his formative years, and was taken into rescue by a knowledgeable border collie owner, who is currently working with him to teach him the basics of living as a family companion dog. He has been tested on sheep and does not display any herding instinct or interest. He is accepting of cats, and does well with other dogs, although he does tend to try to wind them up when they are all playing together.
He has been in the house a great deal and appears to be completely house trained. He loves to ride in cars, is extremely adaptable to new situations, and is very friendly and loving. He is learning basic commands, heels well, and is developing a reliable recall.
Chad needs a home with an experienced dog owner who will dedicate the necessary time to teach Chad was is expected of him. He has some anti-social habits such as a strong desire to chase cars, and he also "pops his teeth" when he is excited, but this is not an aggressive act - it is just an undesirable habit. He learns very quickly and we strongly feel that Chad will learn very quickly once he has bonded with his new owner and they have won his respect. He is a dog with great potential who was never taught the basics of acceptable manners when he was young.

Please note that as a policy ETBCR does not place puppies in families with children under 6 years of age, as border collies and border collie mixes can be very reactive to the movements of small children.
Prior to or upon adoption, all dogs in our rescue program are spayed/neutered (there are NO exceptions), fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, started on heartworm prevention, treated with flea and tick preventive, microchipped, and temperament tested. We also strive to crate and house train each dog before placement.
